Theatre Department to Present Neil Simon’s Biloxi Blues

The Lindenwood University Theatre Department will present its summer production, Neil Simon’s Biloxi Blues at 7:30 p.m. on July 16, 17, 23 and 24 in the university’s Emerson Black Box Theater. Tickets for the production are $10 and are available at the Lindenwood University Box Office—636-949-4433.

The Emerson Black Box Theater and the Lindenwood Box Office are located in the university’s J. Scheidegger Center for the Arts, at 2300 West Clay Street, one block west of First Capitol Drive in St. Charles.

The play, which debuted in 1985, is the second part of Simon’s semi-autobiographical trilogy of plays based on his life as a young man, the other two being Brighton Beach Memoirs and Broadway Bound. Populated with a collection of memorably eccentric characters, the play is filled with Simon’s trademark humor and also confronts a number of weighty issues. The production includes mature language and adult situations and also depicts smoking.

“It is a charming coming-of-age story that explores the companionship of young men being trained to go off and fight in World War II,” said Larry Quiggins, director of the play and chair of the Lindenwood Theatre Department. “It is Neil Simon at his best.”

The cast includes Wes Jenkins, James Lewis, Dustin Massie, Brian Paladin, Chuck Gallagher, Brent Nowack, Mike Juncal, DeAnna Jarrell-Massie and Sara Womack. The assistant director is Rebecca Helms. The stage manager is Connie Vaught. Technical designers are Brian Paladin and Dustin Massie.
