July Speaker Series Announced

Lindenwood University–Belleville has scheduled four guest speakers during July. The presentations are part of the school’s 2010 Speaker Series and are free and open to the public. They also fulfill colloquium requirements for current LCIE students.

All events will take place from 5-6 p.m. in Room 216 of the Administration Building. The schedule is as follows:

• Tuesday, July 13 – Carolyn Griffin, retired elementary teacher from the Collinsville, Ill., School District, will discuss her role as founder of the area’s first Parents and Friends of Lesbians and Gays (PFLAG) chapter.

• Monday, July 19 – Roger Relfe, financial planner and owner of the financial services firm 90 Degrees West, will present “Managing Your Personal Business during Difficult Times.”

• Thursday, July 22 – Jacinta Witherspoon, volunteer coordinator for the St. Louis chapter of Habitat for Humanity, will speak about the organization’s mission and accomplishments.

• Wednesday, July 28 – Dr. Rudy Wilson, retired associate provost for cultural and social diversity from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville, will deliver a presentation about the Underground Railroad.
