Speaker Series Continues with Humanitarian and Navy SEAL Greitens

November 9, 2010

Native Missourian Eric Greitens will headline the continuing 2010-2011 Speaker Series at Lindenwood University at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 16, 2010, at the Anheuser-Busch Leadership Room. Admission is free.

The Anheuser-Busch Leadership Room is located in Lindenwood’s Spellmann Center, just west of the main campus entrance at Kingshighway and First Capitol Dr in St. Charles.

Greitens’ presentation, “Inspired Leadership in Challenging Times,” will focus on his accomplishments as a humanitarian leader, and will include excerpts and photographs from his award-winning book, “Strength and Compassion,” compiled from investigations in his volunteer work in Rwanda, Cambodia, Albania, Mexico, India, the Gaza Strip, Croatia, and Bolivia. His bold essays, “Strength, Pity, Dignity, Courage, Faith, Time, Hope, and Compassion,” are drawn from his real-world experiences and research into the various ways that international humanitarian organizations can best serve war-affected children.

Greitens, a U.S. Navy SEAL officer has been deployed four times in the Global War on Terrorism and is the recipient of numerous military awards, including the Purple Heart and Bronze Star.

A former Rhodes and Truman scholar, Greitens earned his Ph.D. in politics from the University of Oxford in 2000. His numerous awards and appointments include the White House Fellowship, the President’s Volunteer Service Award, a Draper Richards Foundation Fellow, and recognition as one of the leading Social Entrepreneurs in America. Greitens also teaches on ethics, public service, and leadership as a senior fellow at the University of Missouri.
