Global Health Expert Dr. David Walton Concludes Speaker Series

March 31, 2011

Humanitarian and global health expert Dr. David Walton will conclude the 2010-2011 Speaker Series at Lindenwood University at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, April 12, 2011, at Lindenwood’s Anheuser- Busch Leadership Room.

The Anheuser-Busch Leadership Room is located in Lindenwood’s Spellmann Center, just west of the main campus entrance at Kingshighway and First Capitol Dr. in St. Charles. Admission is free and open to the public.

Walton’s presentation, “Living a Purpose Driven Life: One Doctor’s Mission to Provide Healthcare to Haiti and other Third World Countries,” will bring attention to the travails of those less fortunate in the realm of Global Healthcare.

Walton, who has a long history of speaking on human rights issues, is a senior resident in internal medicine at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston. He is also one of two Global Health Equity residents, spending half of his time in Haiti. His work in Haiti has garnered much publicity as he actively provides primary healthcare, HIV prevention and treatment options, tuberculosis treatment, and treatment for any number of illnesses and diseases.

In Haiti, he works directly with the group Partners In Health, whose “mission is to provide a preferential option for the poor in health care.” Helping the over 500,000 impoverished people of the region receive quality healthcare has been a lifelong passion of Walton. As a healthcare speaker, Walton focuses on public health and his belief that it is truly necessary to provide everyone with healthcare access.
