‘A Christmas Carol’ Returns to Lindenwood Stage for Holidays

November 16, 2011

The Lindenwood University Theatre Department will present the perennial holiday favorite A Christmas Carol at 7:30 p.m. on Dec. 1-3 with a 2 p.m. matinee on Dec. 3.

Ticket prices range from $10 to $18, and performances will be in Lindenwood’s Bezemes Family Theater. Tickets are available at the Lindenwood University Box Office, (636) 949-4433, or online at www.lindenwood.edu/center. The Bezemes Family Theater and the box office are located in the J. Scheidegger Center for the arts on the Lindenwood campus at 2300 W. Clay St., one block west of First Capitol Drive in St. Charles.

For more than 30 years, audiences from throughout the region have come to Lindenwood to enjoy Charles Dickens’ classic story of a miserly old man and his Christmas Eve journey of self-discovery in the company of three ghosts.

This year’s production is from a new adaptation by director Becca Helms and actor Michael Juncal, who portrays Scrooge in the play.

“I’ve been involved with Lindenwood’s A Christmas Carol since I was a freshman here,” said Helms, a graduate student. “I always thought there was more to the story that the audience never got to see, so Michael Juncal and I discussed it at length and decided to create a new adaption. The story is still the wonderful tale you’ve come to love, with a handful of new elements and surprises. Come see Dickens’s holiday classic with some new moments never before seen on stage.”

In addition to Juncal, the cast features Joe Bayne as Bob Cratchitt and Charlie Rosser as Tiny Tim. Also featured are Christopher Strawhun, Jacquelyn Danter, Taylor Poore, Shelby Davis, Shane Bosillo, and Nicole Dele. Assisting Helms are stage manager Jordan Smith and assistant stage managers Christina Smith and Katie Ritter. Scenic design is by Donnell Walsh with costumes designed by Donna Northcott. Sound and lighting design are by Sarah Thompson and Corey Verdusco, respectively. Choreography and movement are designed by Rafael Quintas.
