Gangloff Becomes First Full-Time History Professor

As Lindenwood University-Belleville’s first full-time history professor, Dr. Amy Gangloff will draw on her rich research background and teaching experience to lead an engaging series of courses this fall. Gangloff is a graduate of Stony Brook University in Stony Brook, N.Y., earning her master’s and doctorate, as well as a graduate certificate in women’s studies, from the institution.

Last year, she served as an adjunct instructor in history at Lindenwood’s Belleville and St. Charles campuses. She has previously been an adjunct faculty member and teaching fellow at her alma mater of Stony Brook and an assistant professor of history at Mississippi University.

With a long list of speaking engagements, Gangloff has lectured for such organizations as the American Association for the History of Medicine and the Mid-Atlantic National Women’s Studies Association. She has also presented her work at conferences including the Southern History of Science and Technology Conference and Automobility: A Conference on the 100th Anniversary of the Model T.

Gangloff is currently working on her book manuscript, Safety Optional: Automobiles, Public Health, and the Search for Safe Mobility. With such a blended background of research and teaching, Gangloff makes an excellent addition to the faculty of LU-Belleville.
