Accelerated Business Programs Earn ACBSP Accreditation

December 5, 2012

At the culmination of a four-year application and review process, Lindenwood University’s accelerated business programs have received accreditation from the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP), the premier accrediting association for business schools and programs with a focus on teaching excellence.

The programs are offered through the Lindenwood College for Individualized Education (LCIE), which offers 26 degree programs across a variety of disciplines through courses that meet one night a week on a quarterly schedule.

“I am extremely proud of LCIE Dean Dan Kemper, LCIE business faculty members, and the School of Business and Entrepreneurship on the teamwork that resulted in this achievement,” said James D. Evans, PhD, president of Lindenwood University. “Lindenwood University—St. Charles is very fortunate to have two ACBSP accredited programs—the SB&E program that caters to traditional students and now the LCIE program, which caters to the demanding schedules of working adults.”

Kemper and Dr. Angela D. Holden, PMP, director of Lindenwood’s LCIE Business Division, said the business faculty conducted a self-study as part of the accreditation process to demonstrate how specific standards, including strategic planning, leadership, stakeholder focus, and measurement of student learning, are being met. Graduates from ACBSP-accredited universities are required to complete coursework for critical areas of business study and are prepared to solve multi-disciplinary problems and be effective decision makers. ACBSP standards are modeled on the Baldrige National Quality Award Program, which is used by thousands of organizations to guide their enterprises, improve performance, and get sustainable results.

The following LCIE programs are now accredited by the ACBSP: Bachelor Science in business administration, Bachelor of Science and Master of Science in health management, Bachelor of Science and Master of Science in human resource management, Master of Business Administration, and separate Masters of Science in administration with emphases in management and marketing.

The LCIE business programs are headquartered in the Lindenwood University Cultural Center, two blocks north of the main Lindenwood University campus in St. Charles, Mo., and offer classes at 10 extension centers throughout the St. Louis Metropolitan area, from Belleville, Ill., to Wentzville, Mo. The LCIE business programs and Lindenwood’s School of Business and Entrepreneurship combine to make the second largest MBA degree program in Missouri and Kansas.

Lindenwood University, founded in 1827, is an independent liberal arts university offering 84 undergraduate degree programs and 37 graduate programs in diverse areas of study¬ in traditional and accelerated formats. Lindenwood operates a residential campus in historic St. Charles, as well as 10 extension sites throughout the St. Louis Metropolitan Area and a separate campus in Belleville, Ill.
