Newman Center to Host Collection Drive for Tornado Victims

The Lindenwood University Newman Center will host a collection drive for victims and rescue workers affected by the recent tornadoes in Washington, Ill., and surrounding areas. Students and staff organized the drive in partnership with the Catholic Charities Diocese of Peoria.
A collection bin will be available from Sunday, Dec. 1, through Friday, Dec. 6, inside the center, located at 1923 First Capitol Drive, Suite F, on the St. Charles campus. Drop-off hours will be from 9 p.m. to midnight on Sunday, from 1 p.m. to midnight, Monday through Thursday, and from 1 to 5 p.m. on Friday.
Requested items include baby diapers of all sizes, wipes, bottles, formula and baby food; socks, hats and gloves of all sizes; blankets; personal hygiene items such as soap, shampoo, deodorant, toothbrushes, and toothpaste; paper products; and cleaning supplies such as gloves, trash bags, brooms, dust pans, and plastic bins.
Monetary donations can also be made to the Central Illinois relief efforts through the American Red Cross, www.redcross.org or 1-800 RED CROSS, and through Catholic Charities, www.ccdop.org or (309) 636-8000.Related Items:
