Miss Metro East Pageant to be Held Jan. 18
December 6, 2013
Lindenwood University-Belleville and the Office of Day Admissions are pleased to announce the first Miss Metro East Scholarship pageant will be held in the Lindenwood Auditorium at 7 p.m. on Jan. 18.
The university is seeking contestants age 5-24 for the following divisions: Miss, Outstanding Teen, Outstanding Preteen, and Princess. Winners will go on to represent Lindenwood University-Belleville and the Metro East region at the Miss Illinois competition in June 2014.
Miss Metro East is a preliminary title to Miss Illinois and Miss America. The Miss America Organization is the world’s largest scholarship provider for young women in the country, providing over $46 million dollars in assistance each year! Lindenwood University-Belleville is excited to bring this same scholarship opportunity to the young women in the Metro East region. The Miss America Organization promotes good character, volunteerism, and educational opportunities for women all over the country.
The winner of Miss Metro East and Miss Metro East’s Outstanding Teen will receive a renewable $12,600 Lindenwood grant and $2,400 in work-study from Lindenwood University-Belleville and the opportunity to compete for Miss America or Miss America’s Outstanding Teen. Runners up will also win a $9,600 Lindenwood grant plus $2,400 in work-study. All contestants who meet the university’s requirements for admission can earn scholarships by participating. All Miss and Teen contestants must have an application on file at Lindenwood University-Belleville in order to compete.
Lindenwood University-Belleville President Jerry Bladdick said he is thrilled to bring this event to Belleville and the Lindenwood campus.
“The Lindenwood University system has been making scholarship and academic opportunities available to young ladies since our inception,” said Bladdick. “We are pleased to continue that tradition here at the Lindenwood-Belleville campus.”
