Lindenwood Helps Military Personnel Affected by Sequester

Lindenwood University has taken a stand in support of the U.S. military, authorizing additional scholarship funding and need-based aid for service members who attend Lindenwood and whose federal tuition assistance has been cut by the federal budget sequester.

President James D. Evans authorized the funding this week after a university committee studying the issue gave him a picture of the sequester's impact on the Lindenwood campus.

“We have a large contingent of Missouri National Guard members and individuals from all branches of the service,” Evans said. “We want to do our part to help minimize the impact on our students and their families. It is Lindenwood's hope that our veterans won't have to pay much more than before the cuts.”

Evans said Lindenwood is proud of its designation as a “Military Friendly School” and is doing what it can to be supportive of service members’ educational goals and their sacrifices and commitment to our country.

“There’s no better investment than a solider,” he said. “I'm proud to see so many of them studying on our campus.”

Lindenwood opened a new Veterans Assistance Center in the fall.
