General Crosbie Saint to Speak at Lindenwood Commencement

Lindenwood University has announced that General Crosbie Saint (ret.), former commander in chief of the U.S. Army in Europe, will deliver the keynote address at Undergraduate Commencement on Saturday, May 18. He is joined by Douglas Greenlaw, communications industry executive, who will speak at Baccalaureate and Graduate Commencement the night before.

Undergraduate Commencement will be at 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 18, while Baccalaureate and Graduate Commencement will be at 7 p.m., Friday, May 17. Both ceremonies will be at the Family Arena, at 2002 Arena Parkway in St. Charles, and are open to the public.

Saint, who was born at West Point, N.Y., in 1936, graduated from the United States Military Academy in 1958 and was commissioned a second lieutenant. Saint commanded armor and cavalry units and culminated his career as commander in chief of the U.S. Army, Europe, and the Seventh Army and commander of the Central Army Group, NATO. He served two tours of duty in Vietnam and five tours in U.S. Army, Europe. He was a first lieutenant on duty in Germany when the Berlin Wall was erected, and he was commander in chief of the U.S. Army, Europe when the wall was dismantled. He retired from the U.S. Army in 1992 and established a private consulting organization specializing in foreign relations, national security issues, strategic planning, and other matters.

Greenlaw, currently CEO and chairman of Greenlaw-Marshall Communications in Greenville, S.C., has served as president for advertising and marketing at MTV Networks, CEO of Whittles Communications and Switchboard, Inc., and COO of Multimedia, Inc.

Over the two ceremonies, Lindenwood will confer 1,531 bachelor’s degrees, 1,271 master’s degrees, 98 Educational Specialist degrees, and 35 Doctor of Education degrees. This will be the first year that Lindenwood’s Belleville campus will hold its own commencement ceremonies; an additional 289 graduate degrees and 223 undergraduate degrees will be conferred there.
