Online College Database Ranks LU Fourth for Art Programs

Online College Database has ranked Lindenwood University fourth in its 2013 list of 50 U.S. Colleges Where Art Programs Abound. The ranking is based on the number of available degree programs in the fine arts, including painting, sculpture, drawing, and the like.

With 19 such programs, Lindenwood follows New York University, Suffolk University, and Northwestern University; the University of Massachusetts-Dartmouth also has 19 programs. Though several Midwestern universities are listed, Lindenwood was the only school in Missouri to make the list. The data for the listing was collected from the Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System (IPEDS), according to the organization’s website.

“We are delighted to be recognized among the top five U.S. colleges where arts programs abound,” said Joe Alsobrook, dean of the university’s School of Fine and Performing Arts. “Lindenwood has a rich history of developing the whole person, and providing diverse opportunities to engage the arts is integral to this mission.”

Online College Database, which ranks colleges according to a number of different criteria, states on its website, “OnlineCollegesDatabase.org strives to provide helpful information about colleges, universities, community colleges and vocational schools at the local city and state level.”
