HIV Educator and Activist Brryan Jackson to Speak at LU

April 7, 2014

Brryan Jackson, HIV educator and activist, will speak at 8 p.m. on Tuesday, April 15, in the Spellmann Campus Center’s Anheuser-Busch Leadership Room. The free event is sponsored by the school’s Campus Activities Board through the Lindenwood University Speaker Series.

When Jackson was 11 months old, he was injected by his father with HIV-tainted blood. Doctors diagnosed Jackson with AIDS at the age of five and gave him a grim prognosis.

Jackson has since defied the odds and today represents a story of hope, courage, forgiveness, and faith. He is founder and president of the nonprofit organization Hope Is Vital, and he is dedicated to inspiring others to overcome adversity and become empowered to make a difference in their own lives and the lives of others.

During his presentation, Jackson will share how being injected with HIV by his father has impacted his life, promote education on HIV and AIDS in order to prevent the spread of the disease, and disband myths and reduce negative stigma related to HIV and AIDS.

Event registration is not required. For more information, contact Angela Royal, director of Student Life and Leadership, at (636) 949-4983 or
