Three New Undergraduate Degrees and Homeland Security Emphasis Added

June 6, 2014

Lindenwood University-Belleville has announced that it will add three new undergraduate degrees to its offerings this fall, bringing the total number of degree programs up to 35. It will also add a new homeland security emphasis to its current Bachelor of Science in criminal justice.

A Bachelor of Arts in biology, Bachelor of Science in athletic training, and Bachelor of Science in exercise science will be available through the university’s day program. The degrees in exercise science and athletic training will replace the former 2+2 programs in those fields that the Belleville campus offered in partnership with Lindenwood’s St. Charles campus.

The athletic training program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education (CAATE) and the BS in exercise science has been one of the fastest-growing programs on the St. Charles campus. LU-Belleville has offered the BS in biology for several years, but the BA in biology will allow students another path to a degree within the expanding field of biology.

The homeland security emphasis will allow those pursuing a BS in criminal justice to hone their studies to more closely complement their specific career interest.

“We are pleased that the Illinois Board of Higher Education approved Lindenwood University-Belleville to offer these degrees,” said Dr. Keith Russell, dean of academics. “We believe that these programs provide exciting opportunities for our students to pursue majors that have excellent employment prospects in today’s job market.”

For more information on enrolling in one of these programs at Lindenwood Belleville, contact the Office of Day Admissions at (618) 239-6242.
