Research Opportunities

Psychology Research Opportunities

The Psychology Department values and encourages student involvement in research activities. We offer opportunities for students to get involved early in their academic careers by providing students enrolled in select introductory courses the opportunity to take part in research studies through the Lindenwood Participant Pool. Our majors are also required to take PSY30400:  Basic Research Methods along with PSY30600:  Behavioral Science Statistics, which emphasize the importance of research in our discipline.  In PSY30400, students complete three group research projects that entail three different methodologies.

Our program also offers additional upper-level courses that involve students designing, implementing, and writing up their original research projects in APA style and may possibly lead to publications in peer-reviewed journals. In all courses involving student research, students are encouraged to attend and/or present their research findings at various conferences, including our in-house Lindenwood Student Research Symposium and on Sibley Day.  Lindenwood psychology students have also presented at various regional and national conferences, including the Alpha Chi National Convention, Great Plains Students’ Psychology Convention, ILLOWA Undergraduate Psychology Conference, Mid-America Undergraduate Psychology Research Conference, Missouri Undergraduate Psychology Conference, and Sigma Xi Student Research Conference, and have won numerous presentation awards.

Lindenwood hosted the 5th Annual Missouri Undergraduate Psychology Conference (MUPC) in 2009, the 10th Annual Meeting in November of 2014, and the 11th Annual Meeting in November 2015. View the 2015 MUPC website.
