The Department of Sociology offers the Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology and the Bachelor of Arts degrees in Sociology with Emphasis in Anthropology. It also offers minors in Sociology and Anthropology.

Bachelor of Arts, Sociology

The Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology requires the completion of 42 hours of course work consisting of the following courses:
SOC 102, Basic Concepts of Sociology (3),
MTH 141, Basic Statistics (3),
PSY 304 Basic Research Methods
PSY 306 Behavioral Science Statistics
ANT 112, Cultural Anthropology (3),
SOC 320, Social Thought and Theory (3) and ONE PSY COURSE ABOVE THE 200 LEVEL, plus 18 credit hours of Sociology or Anthropology electives.


Bachelor of Arts, Sociology with Emphasis in Anthropology

The Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology with Emphasis in Anthropology requires the completion of 42 hours of course work consisting of the following courses:
SOC 102, Basic Concepts of Sociology (3),
MTH 141, Basic Statistics (3),
PSY 304 Basic Research Methods
PSY 306 Behavioral Science Statistics
SOC 320, Social Thought and Theory (3) and ONE PSY COURSE ABOVE THE 200 LEVEL plus
ANT 112, Cultural Anthropology (3),
ANT 122, Human Evolution: Biology and Culture (3),
ANT 210, Native American Indians (3),
ANT 317, Social and Cultural Change (3),
ANT 324, Religion and Culture (3),
BIO 107, Human Biology (3),
ESC 100, Physical Geology with Laboratory (4),

Minor in Sociology

The Minor in Sociology requires the completion of 18 credits hours of course work. Students seeking a minor in Sociology should consult with a member of the Sociology faculty for the actual courses required.

Minor in Anthropology

The Minor in Anthropology requires the completion of 18 credits hours of course work. Students seeking a minor in Anthropology should consult with a member of the Anthropology faculty for the actual courses required.
