This year’s Kilometers for Chris event will be Sunday, April 27, at 9:00 a.m. on the Lindenwood University St. Charles Campus and will be a team challenge run. Teams of 4-5 people will be challenged to complete a variety of team obstacles at various points during the run. The challenges will be accessible for all participants but will require teamwork in order to complete the task. Details about the challenges will be released in April. The event will also include a 1-mile walk/run open to anyone wanting to support Chris's recovery and have a fun time. Gather your friends and teammates today, and register (link to registration) to support Chris in his recovery. 100% of the proceeds are donated to the Chris Lister Recovery Fund.
The annual Kilometers for Chris event supports the recovery and rehabilitation of Chris Lister, an alum of Lindenwood University. Chris was struck by a car while running a 10K race in 2012 and was severely injured. Chris continues to recovery and making daily progress at a local care facility. The goal of the annual event is to provide financial and emotional support to Chris and his family during his recovery. You can learn more about the Chris’s progress at https://www.caringbridge.org/visit/christopherlister.
The event is coordinated by Lindenwood students in the Recreation Administration program. Students are involved in all aspects of the event planning and determine the majority of the decisions. The event allows students to gain valuable experience in recreation but more importantly, students are able to see the positive impact leisure services can have on an individual and a community.
