Lions Baseball Advances to National Championships after Winning Central Regional

The Lindenwood baseball team won the 2017 NCAA Division II Central Regional Championship on Monday afternoon in Emporia, Kan., with an 8-4 victory over Central Oklahoma. With the win, Lindenwood advances to the eight-team NCAA Division II National Championships, which will take place on May 27-June 3 at The Ballpark in Grand Prairie in Grand Prairie, Texas. The Lions will open up play in that tournament at 7 p.m. Saturday against the South Region champion, Delta State.

The men’s and women’s rugby programs earned wins in the cup finals at the USA Rugby National Collegiate Sevens Championships at Infinity Park in Glendale, Col.: two national titles within 30 minutes.

LUTV to be Recognized with Student NATAS Awards

Lindenwood University’s student-run television station, LUTV-HD, will receive two NATAS Mid-America Regional Student Television Awards at the Mid-America Emmy Awards ceremony on Sept. 9 at the Chase Park Plaza in St. Louis. A trio of Lindenwood students will receive two awards for live sports and sports program.

Kasey Washausen still vividly remembers nervously sitting behind the microphone for the first time in the radio studio at Lindenwood University-Belleville. That was in the spring of 2015. Two years later, she’s a brand new graduate with a bachelor’s degree in mass communications and a new career, which started with a regular shift on the air at a St. Louis radio station before she was even handed her diploma.

Dr. Edward L. Morris, professor of finance in the Robert W. Plaster School of Business & Entrepreneurship, has been named a regional recipient of the 2017 ACBSP Teaching Excellence Award. The Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs recognizes individuals each year who exemplify teaching excellence in the classroom.
