Twenty Lindenwood performing arts students who performed on stage with Broadway superstar Patti LuPone during her May Lindenwood performance were spotlighted in a two-page spread in St. Charles County Lifestyle’s August edition.
Ingram’s, the Kansas City business magazine, published a ranking of private universities and colleges in Missouri and Kansas in its July 2019 issue, based on post-graduate enrollment. With a fall 2018 graduate enrollment of 2,862, Lindenwood ranked fourth between Saint Louis University and Webster University.
Ben Scholle, who teaches digital cinema arts at Lindenwood University, was interviewed July 12 on KTVI, Fox 2, about his film, Through the Cracks, which will be screened at 3:15 p.m. on Sunday, July 14, at Washington University’s Brown Hall as part of the St. Louis Filmmakers Showcase.
Presidential Scholarship recipient Guadalupe Medina was included in an article in YR, a national publication produced by young journalists, regarding the difficulties faced by DACA recipients seeking to attend college. Medina was presented as an exception to the rule in that her scholarship afforded her the opportunity to attend at Lindenwood.
Nearly 4,500 soccer fans came to Lindenwood University’s Harlen Hunter Stadium for a professional soccer match between Saint Louis FC and the MLS’ Chicago Fire. Lindenwood stepped in when the original venue became unavailable due to minor flooding. Saint Louis FC won in an upset by a score of 2-1.
Lindenwood theatre student Anthony Elliott, who did the sound design for the Theatre Department’s recent production of Our Town, was at the center of a May 22 article in a national trade publication, Stage Directions, for the work he did for the production. It’s a great example of how Lindenwood programs provide real experience for students.
STLToday.com ran an article on June 6 by Lindenwood history professor Steve Gietschier to correspond with the anniversary of the 1944 allied D-Day invasion of Normandy in World War II. The article focuses on baseball Hall of Famer and St. Louis native Yogi Berra, who was involved in the invasion as a member of the U.S. Navy.
Christian Rodriguez, who plays rugby for the Lions, was featured in the U.S. edition of The Guardian. Lindenwood’s rugby teams are playing this weekend (June 1 and 2) in the Collegiate Rugby Championships in Philadelphia. Lindenwood is the defending champion at the event, portions of which will be televised on ESPN’s network of channels.
Michele and Maya Rodriguez, who are mother and daughter, were featured in an article in the St. Louis American for graduating together with their master’s degrees in Lindenwood’s spring Commencement. The two also graduated together with bachelor’s degrees in 2017.
The media center and gaming center in the Library and Academic Resources Center was featured in a larger article in Library Journal titled “Labs in Libraries.” Digital Librarian Michael Fetters was quoted in the article; the material on Lindenwood is located in the middle of the article. The other schools featured in the article are University of Rhode Island, University of Washington Health Sciences Library, and University of Oklahoma.
