Record Number of Applications Received for Fall Semester
The fall 2019 semester at Lindenwood University has begun with more than 1,200 first-time students, continuing an upward trend going back to the fall 2018 semester at the St. Charles-based university. The first-time student group included traditional freshmen and transfer, international, and online students.
The university received 6,577 applications for admission for the fall 2019 semester, a record number that surpassed the fall 2018 and 2017 totals of 5,182 and 3,259, respectively.
Terry Whittum, senior vice president for enrollment management and student engagement, said the incoming group is 54 percent female and 46 percent male and represents 42 states and 27 countries. Thirty-five percent of the new students are athletes.
The 2019 traditional freshman class of 1,165 surpasses last year’s total of 1,139, which itself constituted an increase of approximately 10 percent over the 2017 freshman class.
“We are extremely thrilled with our new incoming students, which have surpassed our target for the 2019-2020 academic year,” said John R. Porter, president of Lindenwood University.
