Lindenwood Belleville exploded for 59 first-half points against Principia on Saturday and cruised to an 108-74 victory.
Playing in front of a packed house, the Lynx put on an offensive display in the first half, shooting 72 percent from the floor. Junior LaQuan Pierce was outstanding from start to finish, netting 23 points for the game.
Principia College, primarily a three-point shooting team was off the mark. The team went 3-19 from three-point range in the first half, aiding the Lynx to create such a high-scoring contest.
The game was also home to two separate events. Senior day festivities were held prior to the game where Florissant, Mo. native, Rashad May, was honored as the team’s lone senior. May had a great game, recording 11 points, five rebounds and four assists.
The second event, titled “Maroons on Main,” honored past Belleville Township and Belleville West High School basketball players. Nearly 200 alumni were in attendance as every living coach from the school were brought back out onto the court at halftime. Players that played for each coach stood and were recognized.
This game marks the highest scoring contest for the Lynx in its history. Lindenwood Belleville will play Missouri Baptist on Monday night as the team will head out on the road for its remaining games.
