Biographical Information

Tricia Zweier, Associate Professor and Dance Program Chair, is an educator, choreographer, and performer with a cross-disciplinary interest in dance and kinesiology. After earning a Master of Science in Kinesiology and a Master of Fine Arts in Dance from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, she relocated to Missouri and is in her eleventh year at Lindenwood. She teaches mostly contemporary and jazz techniques, dance history, dance & technology, and dance science courses.

Outside of Lindenwood, Tricia has been commissioned to teach master classes in Illinois, Missouri, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Texas. She has also completed residencies as a guest artist at The Center for Contemporary Dance Pre-professional Student Intensive (Orlando, FL), The College of Lake County (Grayslake, IL) and Texas Tech University (Lubbock, TX). Tricia performed with the Atlantic City Ballet (formerly Atlantic Contemporary Ballet Theatre) and Flatlands Dance Theatre, as well as international tours in the cruise line industry as a lead dancer and dance captain.

Her modern dance performance credits include the works of Hanya Holm, Merce Cunningham, and Martha Graham. She has also had the pleasure of working with more contemporary artists including Sean Curran, Mark Dendy, and Nejla Yatkin. She has also presented her own choreography, with Lindenwood University student performers, in national festivals including The Boston Contemporary Dance Festival, The Detroit Dance City Festival, and the American College Dance Association North-Central Gala Concert.

Tricia is the Operations Coordinator for The Dance Science and Somatics Educators. She is also a member of The National Dance Education Organization, The International Association for Dance Medicine and Science, and serves as Board Secretary for Modern American Dance Company (MADCO).
