Course Description

Neil Gaiman glides between the reality most of us experience and the alternate reality that exists just beyond that door or gate or forest. This course will explore how Gaiman builds those worlds and creates seamless intersections between reality, alternate reality, and fantasy. We will read and discuss selections from his short story collections and at least two novellas considering the writing from both a reader and a writer’s perspective. Students will have the opportunity through a few mini workshops to create their own intersections, fantasies, or alternate realities.
