Dr. Michael D. Shonrock began his tenure on June 1, 2015, as Lindenwood University’s 22nd president.
U.S. News and World Report’s 2015 ranking of online programs for veterans recognized Lindenwood University in several areas, including bachelor’s programs, graduate business programs, MBA, and graduate education programs.
Since its inception in 1975, thousands of students have graduated from the Lindenwood University College for Individualized Education (LCIE). In celebration of the accelerated evening program and its successful alumni, Lindenwood will host the LCIE 40th Anniversary Outstanding Alumni Award Banquet on Thursday, Sept. 10, at the St. Charles Convention Center.
Lindenwood University-Belleville and the YMCA of Southwest Illinois partnered to honor 11 local high school seniors selected as recipients of this year’s Y-Scholars Award. An awards ceremony was held for the recipients and their families on April 29 at Lindenwood Belleville.
In its first year in the American Midwest Conference, the Lindenwood Belleville softball team has captured the regular season championship, earning an automatic bid to the NAIA National Championship opening round. With a Park University loss on April 24, the Lady Lynx also clinched the top seed in the conference tournament next week. The Lady Lynx are the first female team in school history to win a conference championship.
The Lindenwood Belleville Lynx (14-21, 9-9) ended a three-game losing streak in historic fashion, beating NCAA Division I Murray State 8-2. This was the first time in Lindenwood Belleville history, in any sport, that a team has beaten a Division I opponent. The Lynx did so behind starting pitcher Dylan Skinner, who threw a complete game in his first career start, allowing only five hits, two walks, and two runs. The Lynx offense had 14 hits, including four for extra bases.
The Board of Directors at Lindenwood University today announced the hiring of Michael D. Shonrock, PhD, as Lindenwood’s 22nd president.
Olympic athlete Jackie Joyner-Kersee and the R. Whittington Foundation presented O’Fallon Township High School senior Taylor Harris with a scholarship to attend Lindenwood University-Belleville at a ceremony on campus April 1. Harris, of O’Fallon, Ill., will be a freshman at Lindenwood Belleville in fall 2015.
Stephen R. Wigginton, U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of Illinois, will serve as the commencement speaker for Lindenwood University-Belleville’s graduation ceremony on Monday, May 18, at 7 p.m. at the Gateway Center in Collinsville, Ill.
Singer and composer Erin Bode will give an 80-minute performance and discuss the path that led to her vocal career at the Lindenwood University-Belleville Speaker Series on April 7 at 6:30 p.m. in the Auditorium. This event is free and open to the public.
