Lindenwood University – Belleville has been accepted to join the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA), following a three-year affiliation with the United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA). League officials made the announcement Sunday at the NAIA National Convention in Newport Beach, California. Lindenwood University - Belleville will compete as a full NAIA member effective August 1, 2012.
Students at Lindenwood University-Belleville can now earn a bachelor of science degree in biology; the Illinois Board of Higher Education approved the new degree on April 10.
Lindenwood University has announced that Dan Korte, president of the Rolls-Royce Defense business, will be the keynote speaker at its 2012 Undergraduate Commencement ceremony. He is joined by fellow Lindenwood alumna Rev. N. Deliza Spangler, dean and rector of St. Paul’s Episcopal Cathedral in Buffalo, N.Y., who will speak at Baccalaureate and Graduate Commencement the night before.
The Lindenwood Belleville Lynx soccer team continues to make a difference on and off the field. On Saturday, March 10, the team served alongside a number of volunteers to spread hope to the community of Harrisburg, Ill., through donations and time spent working to meet the needs of Harrisburg residents.
On the heels of record student enrollment this spring semester, Lindenwood University’s Board of Directors recently approved $2 million to go towards a new admissions center and communications center, complete with radio and television station, for the Belleville campus.
Garrett Reuter, Lindenwood donor and local attorney at Greensfelder, Hemker, & Gale, will present the university with a Brother Mel Meyer replacement sculpture for the one that was recently stolen from the university.
Lindenwood University-Belleville will partner with the Art on the Square art fair next year to co-sponsor the Lindenwood-Art on the Square Artist’s Choice Awards for local high school art students. The university will offer $250,000 in total scholarship funds to the winners and participants in the competition.
Lindenwood University has been named the recipient of a $114,000 joint grant from the William T. Kemper Foundation and Commerce Bancshares Foundation. The money will be used to equip a classroom in the School of Business and Entrepreneurship on the university’s St. Charles campus with distance learning technologies.
Jeff Fisher has been named Head Football Coach at Lindenwood University – Belleville. Fisher joins the Lynx from McKendree University, where he served as the Bearcat’s Offensive Coordinator. He helped establish the football program at McKendree back in 1996 and has spent the past 15 years as a member of the McKendree University football coaching staff.
