The Student Counseling and Resource Center (SCRC) offers a variety of free services for all currently enrolled Lindenwood Belleville students.

Academic Counseling

The SCRC collaborates with the Academic Success Center (ASC) in order to provide a holistic approach to academic student development through a network of comprehensive resources and services. To remain in good academic standing, undergraduate students enrolled in six or more credit hours in a given term must maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0. To help students achieve and maintain satisfactory GPAs, counselors can assist with the following:

  • Educational goal setting
  • Stress management
  • Time management
  • Accessing campus resources
  • Reducing test anxieties
  • Adjusting to college
  • Study skills

Personal Counseling

Licensed counselors and master-level counseling interns are available to assist currently enrolled students with personal issues that may be impeding their college success. An open and honest discussion of feelings, behaviors, relationships and life experiences with trained counseling individuals in a safe, confidential environment enables individuals to grow, make healthy choices and achieve both personal and educational goals. Counselors can assist with the following:

  • Short-term individual counseling
  • Crisis intervention
  • Short-term group counseling
  • Educational workshops and presentations, which includes education and training with residence hall staff and other campus groups
  • Referrals to off-campus providers for more intensive, longer term, or more specialized treatment

Group Counseling

Group counseling is an excellent way for students to get support, learn about themselves and their relationships with others, and to develop new skills. Students can also receive support from peers and learn how to relate to them in different ways; gain knowledge about yourself and your relationships with others, as well as develop new skills for coping with difficult situations, thoughts and feelings - including social and general anxiety. Types of group counseling can include:

  • Mindfulness skills to help cope with academic and personal stress
  • Anxiety management skills
  • Grad student support
  • Coping with College support group

The SCRC group counseling services DOES NOT include couples counseling or family counseling services.
