The Ozark Mountain Daredevils

The Ozark Mountain Daredevils

April 4, 2024 at 8 p.m.

The Lindenwood Theater

Aptly described as “a ragtag collection of hippies, bohemians, and musicians of no fixed ambition,” the Ozark Mountain Daredevils always have been indefinable in terms of music genres; producing sounds of country-rock and electric bluegrass all on the same record, writing lyrics both whimsical and poetic, and singing harmonies that would send shivers up your spine.

Founded in Springfield, Missouri, in 1971, the band initially called themselves the Family Tree before finally settling on the catchy moniker of Cosmic Corncob & His Amazing Ozark Mountain Daredevils — The Ozark Mountain Daredevils, for short. The band has released eight studio albums (in addition to live and compilation albums) and hit singles “If You Wanna Get to Heaven” in 1974 and “Jackie Blue” (which reached No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100) in 1975. These local favorites perform throughout North America and Europe and continue to grow and maintain a loyal fan base throughout the world and back home.
