Lindenwood Magazine - Spring 2025

12 SPRING 2025 EDITION THE LINDENWOOD SPOTLIGHT Student CAMPUS LIFE BROOKE PIOSKE Brooke Pioske embodies the University’s value of thriving together. Through her years as a student-athlete, and into her post-graduate pursuits, she continues to foster community built on authenticity and collaboration. Brooke, originally from Mound, Minnesota, chose Lindenwood because of the faculty she met during her visit, the proximity to home, and the ice hockey program. From her freshman year on the team, Brooke felt welcome and included by the upperclassmen. Along with her teammates, she was intentional in providing that same supportive environment for future players. Whether it was a group text inviting teammates to watch the latest episode of The Bachelor, or making the most of long road trips, Brooke’s commitment to team unity helped them thrive personally and athletically. Brooke was selected as assistant captain in her sophomore season and continued the role as a junior. Heading into the 2024-25 season, she was named captain and proudly wore the C. She was a vital contributor on defense and well-respected by her teammates. In addition, she was recognized as a three- time AHCA Scholar, three times as CHA Student-Athlete of the Year, and named to the CHA All- Academic Team, also three times! Brooke made friends from around the world while at Lindenwood, from places as far as Norway. She cherished the friendly faces she encountered around campus and while visiting a local favorite, Upshot Coffee. In the classrooms, she enjoyed marketing classes with Instructor Kevin Kilcullin, and felt well-supported by her advisor, Senior Professor of Management Joy Peluchette. Together, the pair was dedicated to her goals which allowed Brooke to complete her studies while managing the busy schedule of an NCAA athlete. Brooke earned her Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a double emphasis in Marketing and Sports Management in just three years and completed an MBA with an emphasis in Leadership this May. Both, with a perfect 4.0 GPA. She’s wasting no time applying what she learned at Lindenwood. Brooke was selected as the Player Development Intern for USA Hockey and is a key contributor to the girls’ national player development camps this summer. Her responsibilities include coordinating travel logistics, managing player experience, and camp organization and scheduling. She will be spending time at headquarters for USA Hockey in Colorado Springs, then travel to camps at Miami University in Ohio, and Lake Placid, New York. Her work will undoubtedly foster a positive environment for the players, coaches, and staff involved, and continue to represent the power of thriving together.
