Lindenwood Magazine - Spring 2025

6 SPRING 2025 EDITION THE LINDENWOOD YOUR READER Once upon a time in St. Charles County, there were bustling local libraries filled with enthusiastic children. Each week, their friends from the local university visited to share story time and build literacy skills for both the reader and the listener. This is the true story of Lindenwood University’s new partnership with the St. Charles City-County Library called Grow Your Reader. Spearheaded by Assistant Professor of Curriculum and Instruction Dr. Alex Tripamer, the relationship seeks to boost early literacy skills in children and simultaneously provide real experience for early childhood and elementary teacher candidates. Twice a week throughout the spring semester, students in Tripamer’s children’s literature class made their way to the library and led story time. The Lindenwood students presented engaging stories paired with interactive learning activities like songs and physical movement. Together, these activities help develop early language skills, expand vocabulary, and help children use their imagination. FEATURE STORY Grow
