20 21 SPRING 2026 EDITION THE LINDENWOOD THE LINDENWOOD SPRING 2026 EDITION When asked what sets their alma mater apart, Lindenwood’s proud alumni often point to more than academics or campus memories. They speak about trust and integrity. They talk about knowing the institution continues to do what is right, long after their graduation day. For two-time Lindenwood alumnus Justin Lynn ’09, ’12, that commitment has been a constant. Now a successful professional and engaged community leader, he credits his time on campus not only for preparing him to succeed in his career, but for shaping the ethical foundation that guides his work today. “As students, we were challenged to think critically and act responsibly,” Justin said. “As alumni, that same care and respect continues.” Doing what is right for alumni means maintaining meaningful connections and lifelong support. From career resources and networking opportunities to alumni events, mentorship programs, and continued learning, the institution remains invested in each graduate’s success. It also means stewardship. Gifts given by alumni are managed responsibly, directed toward the area that each individual most directly connects with. For some that might be scholarships, while others feel connected to academic programs that benefit current and future students. For Justin, staying connected is both a privilege and a responsibility. “I want to give back because this place continues to give to me,” he shared. “Doing what is right means supporting the next generation, just as we were supported. Justin holds a bachelor’s degree in political science and a master’s degree in public administration from Lindenwood, as well as an executive certificate in leadership and management from the University of Notre Dame - Mendoza College of Business. He is an experienced risk and compliance practitioner and works at Protiviti as the Associate Director for Legal, Risk, and Compliance. He lives in O’Fallon and is a passionate Lindenwood sports fan and supporter. Justin’s continued connection to Lindenwood University serves as a powerful reminder that the University’s values do not live only in words, but in actions. Because doing what is right doesn’t end at commencement. It lasts a lifetime. Since Lindenwood was founded by one of the most influential and innovative pioneer teachers, Mary Easton Sibley, providing higher education for all has been core to Lindenwood’s values. The Lindenwood University St. Charles Alumni Chapter was founded over 50 years ago with a mission statement reflecting the values of Mary Easton Sibley, to enable students to attend Lindenwood by providing scholarships. The chapter has held fashion shows, booths at Festival of the Little Hills, sold t-shirts, pickleball tournaments, and sold flowers and graduation memorabilia. Since its foundation, the chapter has raised over $100,000 for scholarships, awarding two or three scholarships per year as funds would permit. However, the stated goal was always to create an endowed scholarship. That goal reached reality at the Scholarship Brunch on April 11, 2026 when the final check was presented to President Porter by the officers of the Chapter. Continuing to support Lindenwood, the Chapter will add to the scholarship each year. The Chapter has also embarked on a new obligation, supporting the Butler Library Renovation by committing $5000 to its restoration. Nominations close Friday, August 28, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. The Alumni Merit Award recognizes alumni who have enhanced the prestige of Lindenwood University by virtue of their character, integrity, career, and personal accomplishments. The Alumni Service Award recognizes alumni who have demonstrated outstanding service and leadership through volunteerism, philanthropy, recruiting, or any other means. The Young Alumni Award recognizes alumni who graduated in the last 10 years and have demonstrated outstanding promise for contributions to Lindenwood and the greater community.
