28 29 FALL 2020 EDITION FALL 2020 EDITION THE LINDENWOOD THE LINDENWOOD THE ALUMNI COMMUNITY GROWTH Future LOOKING FORWARD STRATEGY & INNOVATION Lindenwood University announced the strategic planning process in October, guided by Rob Westervelt, Vice President for Strategy and Innovation. With over 22 years of higher education experience, he is confident in the school’s trajectory. “I believe that Lindenwood is poised to become the most innovative university in the country,” he shared. Vice President Westervelt is eager to embed innovation in the Lindenwood culture and recognizes the value of differentiation. One of the many ways Lindenwood is differentiating itself is by establishing unique partnerships in the community to broaden the student experience and enrich the development of scholars. ITEN Lindenwood University welcomed ITEN, the IT Entrepreneur Network, as a new division of the institution this fall. Founded in 2008, ITEN has been a catalyst for technology innovation in the St. Louis region and supports tech entrepreneurs in the successful launch of new companies. Mary Louise Helbig, executive director, shared her vision for ITEN as a new division of Lindenwood University, “We are committed to building connectedness within St. Louis’ innovation community. Providing collaboration opportunities among our entrepreneurs, businesses, and students will benefit the individuals who are participating while promoting economic growth in the region.” OWL 360 OWL 360 integrative technology was installed in 207 classrooms at Lindenwood in advance of fall semester. These innovative cameras and speakers allow students learning virtually to engage and participate in class while not physically present in the classroom. As an essential tool for Lindenwood’s hybrid course delivery, OWL cameras have advanced the educational experience for students and have expanded resources for students and faculty alike. THE LINDEN GOLD The Linden Gold is a student- centered publication effort driven by Provost and Senior Vice President of Academic Affairs, Dr. Mark Arant. The Linden Gold engages student writers, content creators, and digital design talents, working in collaboration to share stories of university successes. Achievements of students, faculty and staff come together in weekly publications on the Lindenwood website and highlight the accomplishments of the campus community. Led by Mia Tebbe, Lindenwood University senior and project lead, the team of students execute each story from conception to publication. Read their stories on www.lindenwood.edu/ lindengold.
