Applied Nutrition Concepts for Health, Nutrition and Weight Loss {APPNUT}
This course will build upon foundational considerations of nutrition to focus on key applications of nutrition in terms of health, performance, and recovery. Modules in this course will address topics related to energy metabolism, energy assessment, carbohydrates, fats, protein, fluid, supplementation, and weight loss.
Basic Nutrition for Health, Exercise, and Weight Loss {BASNUT}
This course will provide an understanding of basic nutrition and what diet practices impact health outcomes at varying life stages. Modules in this course will cover basic nutrition guidance for varying life stages, digestion and metabolism, sports performance, weight management and behavior modification techniques.
Exercise Prescription & Programming {EXEPRO}
This course will integrate scientific principles and practical applications related to designing a safe and effective strength and conditioning training program.Students will be able to apply their knowledge of basic biomechanical principles regarding exercise selection, execution, and sport performance.
Foundational Concepts of Exercise Physiology {EXEPHY}
This course will be a discussion of various concepts related to exercise physiology. By the end of the course, students should be able to demonstrate an understanding of exercise physiology by achieving satisfactory evaluations on examinations of the following topics: bioenergetics; neural-endocrine control of metabolism; metabolic responses to exercise; pulmonary ventilation; cardiovascular function; skeletal muscle structure and contractile properties; principles of skeletal muscle adaptation; nutrition and athletic performance; ergogenic aids; and fatigue during exercise. Students are encouraged to think physiologically and attempt to make practical application about the topics we discuss.
Functional Kinesiology {Funkin}
This course will introduce and discuss primary considerations related to human movement with a special emphasis on needs and consideration for health and fitness professionals. By the end of this course, students should be able to demonstrate an understanding of the physiological systems found in the human body and then progress into a detailed discussion regarding anatomical language, movement terms, and muscle contraction. In addition, detailed learning will place in terms in reference to the skeletal and muscular systems. Completion of this course is intended to refresh and reinforce knowledge areas that relate to exercise, human movement, and physical performance.
