Lindenwood - Your Alumni Connection - Fall 2017

PENN & TELLER, NEWHART, COLORS OF CHRISTMAS ROUND OUT FALL SCHEIDEGGER SEASON by CHRIS DUGGAN Kenny Loggins kicked off the 2017-18 Touring Series at the J. Scheidegger Center for the Arts on Sept. 9 with an evening of chart-topping favorites and movie soundtrack gold from his decades-long career. And that was just the beginning. The fall portion of the season continues later this month with Penn & Teller at 8 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 29. The duo have astounded audiences with their magic while making them laugh at the same time. In addition to their 16-year run at the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas, they have appeared on Broadway, in world tours, and on numerous television specials and shows, including their current show, Fool Us on the CW network. The timeless Bob Newhart follows at 8 p.m. on Oct. 7 with a night of “buttoned-down” comedy as only he can deliver it. Newhart starred in two long-running television shows, the 1970s-era Bob Newhart Show , about a therapist and his wife living in Chicago, and the 1980s-era Newhart , in which he plays the transplanted owner of an inn in a small Vermont town that is populated by a collection of eccentric characters, such as Larry, his brother Darryl, and his other brother Darryl. He has also appeared in 14 feature films and won an Emmy for his recurring role on the hit series, The Big Bang Theory . The fall portion of the season concludes with The Colors of Christmas at 8 p.m. on Dec. 16. This concert features a collection of rhythm and blues luminaries, including Peabo Bryson, Marilyn McCoo, Billy Davis Jr., Ruben Studdard, and Jody Watley, performing an evening of holiday favorites. Among them, the five have 17 Grammy Award wins and 33 nominations. This is a rare opportunity to see them all on one stage and a great way to ring in the holiday season. Tickets for all shows are available online at LUboxoffice.com, by phone during box office hours at 636.949.4433, or in person at the box office, which is located in the J. Scheidegger Center for the Arts on the southeast corner of campus, 2300 West Clay St. in St. Charles.
