In student government, it’s easy to get caught up in planning programs or pursuing projects that sound impressive. However, this is not our primary purpose. Our responsibility is advocacy. Doing what is right means using our limited time, energy, and resources to listen first, then act on what students actually need. That starts with asking questions, seeking feedback, and providing avenues where student voices are heard honestly. It also means being willing to set aside our own ideas when they don’t align with the broader student body. Advocacy is not about visibility. Rather, advocacy is about IMPACT. When we prioritize student concerns over personal agendas, we establish trust and create meaningful change. In Student Government, we live out this core value by ensuring every decision is grounded in what is right for the students we represent. Colin McEnaney of Rolla, Mo., graduated from Lindenwood in May 2026 with a degree in business administration, with emphasis in finance and supply chain management. During his years as a Lindenwood student, Colin was elected president of Lindenwood Student Government and was involved in several campus organizations including Alpha Chi Honor Society, Accounting and Finance Club, FBLA, and Lion Leaders. He also served as a student representative on the University Curriculum Committee and Hammond Institute for Free Enterprise. Since arriving at Lindenwood this April, I’ve been inspired by our shared commitment to the core value: “We do what is right.” In University Advancement, this principle is our North Star. Our work in Advancement is a commitment to impact and integrity, building bridges between the passions of our alumni and donors and the dreams of our students. We help alumni give back through volunteerism, while helping our donors to transform lives through philanthropic investments in scholarships, student success, and educational innovation. Doing what is right also means honoring the trust of our volunteers and donors. We ensure every gift and hour of service aligns with your personal passions and intended impact. By fostering authentic engagement, we build a foundation of mutual respect where our entire community prospers.
