Lindenwood University is once again the go-to destination for a significant event in the St. Charles community. On June 2, the Hammond Institute for Free Enterprise will host a debate between St. Charles County executive candidates. The free event, held at the J. Scheidegger Center for the Arts, is open to the public and will be broadcast live on NewsTalkSTL radio stations FM 101.9 and 94.1.

The debate features the three top-polling candidates: St. Charles County Executive Steve Ehlmann, former Missouri state Senator Bill Eigel, and former Mayor of Lake St. Louis and current Lt. Col. with the St. Louis County Police Department Jason Law.

Dr. Grant Black, who serves as director for the Hammond Institute, said Lindenwood is a natural fit to host an event of such regional magnitude. “This seemed appropriate for us to provide a nonpartisan environment to host an event like this for the public,” Black said. “The institution should be visible and should be a key player in this community, a place that people think about and go to for information and events.”

Hosting the debate places Lindenwood at the center of the St. Charles community. The University continues to serve as a place for dialogue and community connection. By opening its campus for the public debate, Lindenwood gives residents a place to engage with topics that are close to them. Events like this reinforce Lindenwood’s status as a trusted destination for civic and cultural events in the region.
