Holiday Magic Lights up Winterfest, December 7

This December, luminaries will once again light the heritage side of campus, a tradition that goes back four decades. Winterfest returns December 7 with many of the festivities that have made it a holiday mainstay. The event is 4-8 p.m. with attractions across the heritage side of campus.

Free and open to the public, this year’s Winterfest features the music, arts, crafts, and experiences that guests have come to enjoy. Lindenwood’s student acapella group, Voices Only, will greet visitors with carols while they make their way through the luminaries. Guests are invited to decorate cookies, make holiday crafts, listen to stories told by Mrs. Claus, and take photos with a live reindeer. The event will be marked by a special appearance from Santa Claus.

Alongside the attractions, Winterfest is an opportunity to help those in need this holiday season. Guests are encouraged to bring a new, unwrapped toy to donate to the Salvation Army. Those who donate a toy will be able to get a special Winterfest shirt while supplies last. Through this tradition of giving, the Lindenwood community helps make magical holiday memories both on and off campus.

Special Events Coordinator Lilli Cheek ’24 has fond memories of Winterfest as a student and staff member. “Winterfest really is a tradition like no other,” says Cheek. “Our community is what truly makes it so special. Seeing students, alumni, staff, faculty, and our St. Charles neighbors reminds you of how important family can be this time of year, and we’ve built a pretty special family here.”

Director of Alumni Relations Dr. Jen Edler ’99, ’17, ’20 also recognizes the way the community comes together for this event. “Winterfest truly gets you into the holiday spirit. It’s a celebration for all ages, bringing our entire community together in a warm and welcoming way,” she said. “We look forward to setting the mood for an evening filled with holiday magic. It’s an event I look forward to every year, and I am honored to be part of such a cherished tradition, and I invite you to join us and start sharing these traditions with your family!”

Winterfest is located on the heritage side of the Lindenwood campus, Sunday, December 7, 4 - 8 p.m. Further information can be found on the Winterfest site.
