In Loving Memory: Mrs. Sue Spellmann

Dear Lindenwood Community,

It is with sadness we share news of the passing of our former First Lady, Mrs. Sue Spellmann. Sue was a steadfast partner to the late President Emeritus Dennis Spellmann.

As First Lady, Sue served with quiet strength and preferred working behind-the-scenes to fulfill her unwavering commitment to education. A talented teacher, her husband established an award bearing her name which is presented each spring during Honors Convocation. The Sue Spellmann Graduate Award in Education recognizes a graduate student who has demonstrated outstanding academic achievement, leadership, and potential as a professional educator.

In honor of her service to the University, Sue received the Sibley Medallion of Honor in 1997. Her legacy will live on through the Spellmann Campus Center and her many years of philanthropic support.

Details of Sue’s arrangements are available through Baue Funeral Home.

On behalf of the entire Lindenwood community, our heartfelt condolences are shared with the Spellmann family.

Sincerely,

John R. Porter, Ed.D.
