Lindenwood University has been recognized by Colleges of Distinction for its commitment to serving veterans and active-duty students. Awarded by Colleges of Distinction, this honor highlights Lindenwood’s building of a campus environment where military-affiliated students can thrive both personally and professionally. Lindenwood was the only university in Missouri to receive such recognition.

While more veterans and service members pursue education every year, not all universities provide the unique services that these students need to succeed. The recognition highlights Lindenwood’s dedication to removing barriers to education and providing individualized pathways to success for those who have served.

Chief Operating Officer at Colleges of Distinction Tyler Schritter commended the University treating military students as individuals rather than a statistic. Criteria considered in Lindenwood’s recognition include:

• Comprehensive Educational Benefits - Lindenwood is dedicated to mitigating financial barriers commonly faced by service members and veterans. A special tuition rate is designated for active-duty military personnel, a 20% non-stackable discount is available to military dependents for traditional undergraduate students, and a 20% discount per credit hour for non-traditional undergraduate and graduate students who are non-active military, veterans, and retired military members. The institution actively participates in various federal government programs and policy agreements to ensure these students have access to essential resources such as tuition assistance and education benefits.
• Military and Veterans Affairs Team - Through a team of dedicated staff, Lindenwood provides invaluable guidance to military students, helping them navigate crucial areas such as the enrollment process, VA support, and more.
• Flexible and Accessible Options - Recognizing the unique circumstances that may hinder the traditional path to a degree, Lindenwood offers flexible educational options tailored to the needs of military students.
