Lindenwood University proudly announces the naming of its stadium field as Steward Field, in recognition of the extraordinary contributions and enduring legacy of David L. Steward, a visionary leader, philanthropist, and champion of education and community development, and his family.
The official naming was unveiled during a special ceremony held at Harlen C. Hunter Stadium, where university leaders, student-athletes, and Steward gathered to celebrate his impact on the greater St. Louis area. In addition to the special ceremony, Steward was recognized at the Lindenwood home football game on Saturday, October 25 serving as the Honorary Captain during the pre-game coin toss.
"Dave Steward embodies the values we strive to instill in our students, like integrity, leadership, and service," Lindenwood President Dr. John R. Porter said. "Naming the playing surface, Steward Field, is a tribute to his unwavering commitment to empowering others and his belief in the transformative power of education."
Steward, founder and chairman of World Wide Technology, has long been a supporter of initiatives that promote equity, innovation, and opportunity. His partnership with Lindenwood has helped advance the University's mission and expand access to resources for students across disciplines. In addition, his impact on the greater St. Louis region is immeasurable, and organized through the Steward Family Foundation. The Foundation prioritizes education, the arts, human services, and animal welfare.
The newly named Steward Field will serve not only as the home of Lindenwood Lions student-athletes, but also as a symbol of excellence and inspiration for generations to come.
