Lindenwood University has been named a College of Distinction for 2026-2027, earning the recognition for a seventh straight year. This annual honor is distributed by Colleges of Distinction following a process of in-depth research. The selection process identifies universities that offer a true student-first philosophy. Lindenwood’s inclusion is a result of the University living by its value of putting students first.

Colleges of Distinction evaluates each university’s competency based on what it calls its Four Distinctions: Engaged Students, Great Teaching, Vibrant Community, and Successful Outcomes.

  • Engaged Students: Lindenwood’s emphasis on experiential learning ensures that students go beyond memorization. They are given opportunities to learn through exploring and operating within their field of study.
  • Great Teaching: Educators at Lindenwood connect with their students directly. Professors care about helping students, and teaching is their primary responsibility. This environment allows students to learn through personal interactions with faculty.
  • Vibrant Communities: Student experience at Lindenwood is not limited to the classroom. Students are encouraged to explore extracurricular activities related to their interests. The University’s vibrant campus ecosystem offers athletic, artistic, and social opportunities for students to learn and grow.
  • Successful Outcomes: Lindenwood produces competent and responsible alumni. Graduates are prepared for the ever-evolving workforce.

“Today’s students are navigating a college landscape shaped by rising costs, rapid technological change, and real uncertainty about the future of work,” said Tyson Schritter, Chief Operating Officer at Colleges of Distinction. “What they need from higher education isn’t just a credential, but preparation for the world ahead. Lindenwood University delivers that through the kind of intentional, high-impact education that equips students for whatever comes next.”

“No two students arrive on campus with the same goals, background, or definition of success,” Schritter added. “The institutions we recognize understand that. Lindenwood has built an environment where students are supported and challenged in ways that translate into real academic, professional, and personal outcomes.”
