Health and Society is a pathway in Interdisciplinary Studies designed to be personalized specifically by students interested in health-related careers including, though not limited to, nursing, insurance, and hospital administration. The emphasis draws knowledge and expertise from various programs, including Psychology, Sociology, Public Health, English, as well as Philosophy and Religion. The skills developed through this flexible and customizable framework allow Interdisciplinary Studies majors to choose three cohesive themes. An IS degree with the Health and Society emphasis expands students’ engagements to help them blend knowledge across fields as varied as natural sciences, humanities, and social sciences. An IS degree with the Health and Society emphasis expands students' expertise, so they can see both the scientific and the human as equally important in all healthcare related endeavors.
