Course Description

This introductory course is designed to demystify poetry for prose writers. In easy to learn steps, tools and techniques a student taking this course will be reading and writing poetry with more confidence. You’ll learn how to read poems, and write some of your own. Poetry for Prose Writers will answer questions like does poetry have to rhyme? what’s the difference between prose and poetry? and, what exactly is and isn’t poetry? We will discuss things like the magical rule of three in poetry; meter; and the many forms of poetry. We’ll also explore the crossover in craft and technique between poetry and prose.
