Course Description

This course is an advanced discussion of original television scripts, formats, and their essential elements. Students learn to develop the teaser (introduction) of a pilot script in a professional format that “hooks” the viewer. Students will also learn and develop the supplementary industry/prose materials that must also be created, including log lines, synopses, treatments, beat sheets, and the TV Bible. After weeks of intensive analysis, reading, discussion, and workshop, students will leave class having written a strong teaser “hook” to their original pilot script that they can build on using the package of industry materials that expand their original TV series.
