Whistling Vivaldi
Dr. Stephanie Afful has already created quite a buzz around campus with her Whistling Vivaldi professional learning communities, see details on the Learning Academy webpage. She has 95 participants to make up 10 face-to-face groups and 1 online. The PLCs meet every 2-3 weeks and many of them are using the Learning Academy space for their group sessions. Stephanie and PLC participants are thinking about initiatives for the Spring based on the book discussions.
Service Excellence
Kevin Manley has made enormous strides already. The first service vlog fully edited and posted on the Learning Academy webpage. Kevin has also offered to lead the ‘Champions Council’ for the Q2 Service Excellence initiative. As the council chair, Kevin, will lead the Q2 champions to keep the following in mind as we facilitate the Q2 workshops to the university, one division/department/school at a time.
Champions will:
- Provide valuable feedback to Q2 facilitators
- Keep moral and momentum high
- Focus our teams and help them obtain the resources they need to be successful
- Serve as an interdepartmental point of contact
- Anonymize concerns that may need to go higher/affect other departments
- Update each other on progress and challenges
Kevin has also written a lesson plan on “Breaking Bad News to Students” and will be presenting this information in conjunction with the Q2 Service Excellence initiative. Finally, he has also written several scenes for the service excellence game that he is creating. He recently obtained the software he needed and will begin creating his gaming vision soon!
