Special Notice Regarding the COVID-19 Pandemic

Here's what you need to do and where you need to be in order to receive your degree.

Friday, May 7, 2021 at 7 p.m. 

Graduate Students from all schools.

  • Commencement will be held Friday, May 7, 2021, at 7 p.m. at the St. Charles Family Arena.
  • We will confer all doctorate, specialist, and master’s degrees.
  • Students should check-in at Gate 2
    • Students with last names A-F should check in at 5:50 p.m.
    • Students with last names G-L should check in at 6 p.m.
    • Students with last names M-R should check in at 6:15 p.m.
    • Students with last names S-Z should check in at 6:30 p.m.
  • Upon arrival, students will be ushered to their seat by a university employee. In their seat, the graduate will find a program, any honors cords they have earned, their diploma cover, and a card containing their graduation information. The card will include the student name and line-up information. Please keep your card and diploma cover with you during the ceremony and make sure that you have them when you walk toward the stage.  You will present the card to the reader on stage, and you will need the diploma cover for your photos.
  • To minimize risk surrounding the COVID-19 virus, students will begin the ceremony seated. There will not be a processional or a recessional.
  • Every graduating student will be allowed to invite up to four (4) guests, and graduates will receive tickets via their student email one to two weeks prior to the ceremony. We will also live-stream the ceremony on our website.
  • No security will be available to protect personal belongings.  Please enter the building with the regalia.  We will not be able to provide dressing areas.

Saturday, May 8, 2021 at 10 a.m. 

Undergraduate students from the following schools: School of Education; School of Health Sciences; School of Humanities; and the School of Sciences.

  • Commencement will be held Saturday, May 8, 2021, at 10 a.m. at the St. Charles Family Arena.
  • We will confer all undergraduate degrees for the following schools: School of Education; School of Health Sciences; School of Humanities; and the School of Sciences.
  • Students should check-in at Gate 2

    • Students with last names G-L should check in at 9 a.m.
