The Exercise and Performance Nutrition Laboratory (EPNL) is able to complete a wide variety of assessments that deliver accurate and reliable outcomes to help you meet your health and fitness goals, track progress, and measure the effectiveness of your training and/or nutrition program. Businesses or corporations who promote health and wellness challenges with their work force utilize our testing. Additionally, competitive athletes who may have general or specific health and fitness goals, or trainers or coaches who have clients or athletes who want to accurately track changes, the EPNL can conduct various tests to help you meet these goals. Members of our research team will complete each test and provide a copy of results. As part of being tested, a staff member will spend time to help each person understand the key aspects of each test and how to interpret their outcomes. Below the provided map and Google Maps directions are the breakdown of prices for different tests.

Body Composition

Dual-Energy X-Ray Absorptiometry (DEXA)

Dual-Energy X-Ray Absorptiometry (DEXA)

During a DEXA assessment, the person being tested will lie down on their back and a machine will use x-ray to scan their body. The test is brief (3-4 minutes) and very accurate and very reliable. From the data collection, an individual will receive estimates of the bone, muscle, and fat throughout all parts of their body.

Lindenwood: $25/test
Wellbucks: $25,000
Non-Lindenwood: $50/test

4-Compartment Body Composition Assessment

EPNL - ImpediMedThe 4-compartment assessment is the current gold standard body composition assessment method, and is the most accurate body composition test that we offer. This test will utilize a DEXA scan and a bioelectrical impedance device to determine the amount of bone, muscle, and fat in a participants’ body.

Lindenwood: $40/test
Wellbucks: $30,000
Non-Lindenwood: $75/test

Metabolic Testing

Resting Metabolic Rate (RMR)

EPNL - Resting Metabolic Rate (RMR)Data collected from this assessment provides accurate information regarding the amount of calories an individual should consume each day whether he or she is interested in losing, gaining, or maintaining their body weight.

Lindenwood: $25/test
Wellbucks: $25,000
Non-Lindenwood: $50/test

Performance Testing

Maximal Oxygen Consumption (VO2Max)

Maximal Oxygen Consumption (VO2Max)Also called an aerobic capacity test, this exercise test requires maximal exertion while walking, running or cycling (the EPNL can do all three!). This test determines the rate of oxygen consumption, training heart rate zones, and ventilatory threshold; all key variables to help people establish fitness parameters and training intensities. VO2Max testing is the gold standard for individuals tracking aerobic fitness.

Runners! We have a Woodway DESMO treadmill to complete all running tests.

Cyclists! We have a Cyclus 2 ergometer; one of only 7 in the entire United States. You bring in your own bike, shoes, etc. and the ergometer works with your own equipment. This test is the standard!

Lindenwood: $50/test
Wellbucks: $30,000
Non-Lindenwood: $100/test

Maximal Anaerobic Power (Wingate)

Maximal Anaerobic Power (Wingate)

The Wingate Test determines an individual’s lower body peak and average power, the amount of total work completed, and fatigue index (the rate of power decrease). To complete this test, you must pedal as fast as you can for 30 seconds against a resistance standardized to your body mass. It’s the longest 30 seconds of your life.

Lindenwood: $20/test
Wellbucks: $15,000
Non-Lindenwood: $40/test

Testing Bundles

Comprehensive Fitness and Health Bundle

This bundle consists of one DEXA + one RMR + one VO2max test. This combination of tests is ideal to establish key dietary guidelines, set body composition and body weight goals and determine baseline fitness and training intensities.

Lindenwood: $100/bundle
Wellbucks: $50,000
Non-Lindenwood: $150/bundle

Comprehensive Training Bundle

Two comprehensive testing bundles packs within whatever time frame you choose. This bundle offers a pre/post test scenario to allow for an accurate assessment of change or as a mid-point or follow-up test to keep all guidelines and recommendations on track. All funds are paid up front.

Lindenwood: $125/bundle
Wellbucks: $50,000
Non-Lindenwood: $250/bundle

Aerobic Capacity (Performance) Bundle

Aerobic Capacity (Performance) Bundle

This bundle will offer a VO2Max assessment completed on a treadmill or bike in conjunction with blood lactate assessments every minute throughout the test. To assess blood lactate your finger or ear lobe will be pierced with a needle and a small drop of blood will be removed. This combination of assessments will allow for determination of key exercise intensities which should be used as part of endurance performance training program.

Lindenwood: $100/bundle
Wellbucks: $50,000
Non-Lindenwood: $200/bundle

Team or Group Packs

An additional 10% will be reduced per test for situations where more than five people are scheduled to complete the same tests. For example, if a trainer wants to have five or more clients all complete DEXAs and RMRs, 10% will be deducted. Or if a cycling coach wants five or more of their athletes to complete an aerobic capacity bundle, the cost per bundle will be reduced by 10%.
