Lindenwood Introduces New AI-Centered Programs and Degrees

As businesses across the world embrace the possibilities afforded by artificial intelligence, Lindenwood University has taken the next step to position itself as the next destination for Artificial Intelligence-related programming.

Lindenwood unveils a slate of new programs, degrees, and certificates centered around to enhance the employability of its graduates and respond to the latest advancements in workforce modernization. With AI enabling machines to learn from experience, adjust to new inputs, and perform human-like tasks, successful professionals must be able to understand and effectively manage these platforms.

The President’s Task Force for Artificial Intelligence and Engineering was commissioned in May 2023 to develop a proposal for introducing more AI- and engineering-related academic programming at Lindenwood.

As a result of this task force’s work, Lindenwood is excited to announce the following new academic opportunities:  

  • A new certificate in Human-Centered AI will be offered this fall by the College of Arts and Humanities. This is a 12-credit undergraduate certificate, which can be incorporated into an existing student’s pathway or can be completed as a standalone certificate.
  • A new minor in Human-Centered AI will be offered this fall by the College of Arts and Humanities.
  • A new master’s in Human-Centered AI also will be offered this fall by the College of Arts and Humanities, pending Higher Learning Commission approval.
  • Lindenwood's existing bachelor's in computer science, offered by the College of Science, Technology, and Health, will include three new tracks this fall: Artificial Intelligence, Cybersecurity, and Data Science.

“The Lindenwood community is strategically positioned to adapt to the needs of the higher education market, and our new suite of AI-related programming is designed to meet the needs of multiple populations of learners who are seeking these skills,” Lindenwood President Dr. John Porter said.

These innovative new programs, certificates, and degrees will provide Lindenwood students additional opportunities to gain real experience and real success through a field of diverse educational courses. Additionally, the implementation of these new programs, certificates, and degrees highlights Lindenwood’s unwavering commitment to prepare students for jobs of today and tomorrow.
