Lindenwood University faculty and staff are working from home and all on-campus offices are closed to the public and university employees. Provost and Academic Affairs

The Office of the Provost provides university-wide leadership and oversight of Lindenwood’s degrees, programs, and academic support services. Working in close collaboration with the deans and other academic leaders, the Provost/Vice President for Academic Affairs is responsible for assuring academic excellence at Lindenwood by allocating resources, maintaining accreditation, and monitoring the state of higher education in the St. Louis region and the nation to assure that Lindenwood’s programs are competitive.

The primary focus of the Office of the Provost is to advance the mission and vision of the university according to the strategic plan .

Specifically, this focus entails:

  • Supporting and enhancing current academic programs while developing new innovative offerings.
  • Preparing students for future success through the Center for Experiential Learning.
  • Developing efficient academic policies, procedures, employee development, and exceptional student services.
  • Support academic excellence by maintaining regional and degree-specific accreditations and through the use of data to support continuous improvement.
  • Ensure positive student outcomes through assessment of student learning and academic effectiveness

Meet our Staff

Marilyn Abbott, Ph.D.

Provost / Vice President, Academic Affairs

Dr. Abbot has served as the Provost and Vice-President for Academic Affairs since 2015. Her responsibilities include oversight of all academic programs and personnel, as well as maintaining state, regional, and national academic accreditations. Prior to assuming the role of Provost, Dr. Abbott served as Associate Provost and as Dean of the School of Sciences. As a Professor of Biology she taught courses for General Education students and for Biology majors. Before joining Lindenwood University, Dr. Abbott was involved in biological research in corporate and university settings.

Molly Hudgins, J.D.

Associate Provost for Curriculum and Experiential Learning

As the Associate Provost of Curriculum and Experiential Learning, Dr. Hudgins oversees both the Center for Experiential Learning and the Academic Services (Registrar’s) Office. She began her career at Lindenwood in 2003 as a faculty member and Department Chair of Sport Management in the Plaster School of Business & Entrepreneurship. Prior to assuming the Associate Provost role in July 2018, Hudgins served as the Associate Dean of the School of Business. She also chairs the President’s Athletic Advisory Committee for the university. Hudgins has a M.S. in Corporate Finance from Southern Illinois University, Carbondale. She earned a M.S. in Sport Management from Florida State University and a Juris Doctorate (JD) from the University of Tennessee.

Erin Mann, Ph.D.

Associate Provost for Academic Operations

Dr. Mann holds a Ph.D. in English Literature from the University of Iowa, where she specialized in Old and Middle English religious literature. She began at Lindenwood in 2012 as an Assistant Professor at the Belleville campus, teaching courses in History of the English Language, World Literature, and Medieval British Literature, among others. She joined the Office of the Provost in 2015. As Associate Provost, her responsibilities include strategic enrollment planning, academic integrity, and oversight of the library, the writing center, the bookstore, and faculty development.

Zachary Alley, M.F.A.

Zachary M. Alley

Administrative Assistant to the Provost and Honors College Coordinator

Mr. Alley began as the Administrative Assistant to the Provost in 2017. In addition to his duties as the principle liaison for Academic Affairs, he serves as the Honors College Coordinator and oversees the Honors Learning Communities. He has been involved with Lindenwood University for many years, earning both his B.A. in English and M.F.A. in Creative Writing at the school.
