General, Robert W. Plaster School of Business & Entrepreneurship

The Lindenwood University School of Business and Entrepreneurship will host a Sport Management Career Symposium on Thursday, Oct. 11, in Harmon Hall's Dunseth Auditorium on the St. Charles campus. The event will provide networking and professional development opportunities to students wishing to pursue careers in the sport and recreation industry.

Donna Baber, JD, has been hired as the Director of Planned Giving at Lindenwood University. In the newly created position, Baber oversees the planning and execution of the university’s planned giving programs through the school’s Institutional Advancement Office.

Lindenwood University has been named to the 2013 list of Military Friendly Schools® by Victory Media, a global media entity that supports military personnel through the transition into civilian life. This is the fourth consecutive year Lindenwood has received the honor, which places the school among the top 15 percent of all colleges, universities, and trade schools nationwide that are committed to recruiting and retaining military and veteran students.

Singer Receives Distinguished Research Award
General, Academics, Robert W. Plaster School of Business & Entrepreneurship

Robert Singer, PhD, Associate Professor of Accounting at Lindenwood University, has received the Distinguished Research Award from the Academy of Accounting and Financial Studies. He received the honor for co-authoring a paper titled “Goodwill Impairment: A Comparative Country Analysis,” which has been accepted for publication in the Academy of Accounting and Financial Studies Journal.

Vicki Schrader has been hired as grants manager at Lindenwood University. She conducts research, completes applications, and maintains proper reporting procedures for all grants accessed through the school’s Institutional Advancement Office.

As Lindenwood University-Belleville’s first full-time history professor, Dr. Amy Gangloff will draw on her rich research background and teaching experience to lead an engaging series of courses this fall. Gangloff is a graduate of Stony Brook University in Stony Brook, N.Y., earning her master’s and doctorate, as well as a graduate certificate in women’s studies, from the institution.

Jeffrey Barudin joins the Lindenwood University-Belleville faculty this year to initiate the creation of a pep band on campus. He will also continue his work on the St. Charles campus teaching percussion students in concert and marching settings.

Faculty Member’s Film to Air on HEC-TV in September
General, School of Arts, Media, and Communications

Peter Carlos, LUTV Station Manager and Associate Professor of Communications at Lindenwood University, has directed a short film titled Gravity that will be featured on Tuesdays throughout September on a local television show called Frames. The series will air on HEC-TV, the area’s largest producer of education, arts, and cultural television programming.

General, J. Scheidegger Center for the Arts

The Lindenwood University Theatre Department will open its 2012-13 season with Neil LaBute’s romantic comedy-drama The Shape of Things at 7:30 p.m. on Sept. 20-22, and at 2 p.m. on Sept. 23 in Lindenwood’s Emerson Black Box Theater. General admission tickets are $10 at the Lindenwood University Box Office.

General, Hammond Institute for Free Enterprise

The Duree Center for Entrepreneurship (DCE) at Lindenwood University, in conjunction with the Economic Development Center, will host the St. Charles Entrepreneurship Symposium from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Sept. 29, 2012, in the university’s Spellmann Center.
