Lindenwood University-Belleville will hold its second graduation ceremony in school history on Sunday, May 18, at 2 p.m. in the Gateway Center in Collinsville, Ill. Approximately 500 students are invited to participate in this year’s commencement.

Ganahl Named New Lindenwood Dean for Accelerated Programs

Lindenwood University has named Gina Ganahl dean of its evening accelerated programs, the College for Individualized Education. She takes the post on Friday, May 2, replacing longtime dean Dan Kemper, who is retiring.

The Illinois Basketball Coaches Association (IBCA) announced that Lindenwood University-Belleville's director of athletics and head men’s basketball coach, Scott Spinner, has been named the IBCA Coach of the Year for the college division. Spinner receives his award at the IBCA Hall of Fame banquet on April 26 in Bloomington, Ill.

College of Science, Technology, and Health

The Lindenwood University Department of Criminal Justice will host its annual criminal justice institute from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. June 9-11. The three-day camp will take place on the St. Charles campus and will present participants, age 14-18, with a wide range of activities and presentations offered by criminal justice professionals.

Hammond Institute for Free Enterprise

The Duree Center for Entrepreneurship at Lindenwood University will present a free symposium on How To Fund Your Business Venture. The symposium will be from 1 to 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 3, 2014, in Dunseth Auditorium in Harmon Hall on the Lindenwood University campus, 209 South Kingshighway, St. Charles, Mo. 63301.

Hammond Institute for Free Enterprise

Lindenwood University’s Hammond Institute for Free Enterprise and the Show-Me Institute will co-host a forum on tax credit scholarships from 8 to 11 a.m. on Friday, April 25, in Lindenwood’s Dunseth Auditorium. The presentations will focus on the issue of private-school choice, financed through tax-credit scholarship programs, as a method for dealing with K-12 school funding issues, particularly in struggling unaccredited districts.

In only its first year as a student organization at Lindenwood University-Belleville, the Enactus team made school history by taking home the “Rookie of the Year” trophy at the Enactus United States National Exposition in Cincinnati, Ohio, over the students’ spring break.

College of Education and Human Services

More than 130 people were in attendance as Cynthia Bice, EdD, Dean of the Lindenwood University School of Education, accepted the Educator of the Year Award from the St. Louis Association of Secondary School Principals (SLASSP) on April 3 during an awards ceremony at Syberg’s in Maryland Heights, Mo. She is the only higher education professional to ever receive the award.

General, Student Life

Brryan Jackson, HIV educator and activist, will speak at 8 p.m. on Tuesday, April 15, in the Spellmann Campus Center’s Anheuser-Busch Leadership Room. The free event is sponsored by the school’s Campus Activities Board through the Lindenwood University Speaker Series.
