Students at Lindenwood University-Belleville can now earn a bachelor of science degree in biology; the Illinois Board of Higher Education approved the new degree on April 10.

Lindenwood University has announced that Dan Korte, president of the Rolls-Royce Defense business, will be the keynote speaker at its 2012 Undergraduate Commencement ceremony. He is joined by fellow Lindenwood alumna Rev. N. Deliza Spangler, dean and rector of St. Paul’s Episcopal Cathedral in Buffalo, N.Y., who will speak at Baccalaureate and Graduate Commencement the night before.

The Lindenwood Belleville Lynx soccer team continues to make a difference on and off the field. On Saturday, March 10, the team served alongside a number of volunteers to spread hope to the community of Harrisburg, Ill., through donations and time spent working to meet the needs of Harrisburg residents.

Assistant VP Selected as Fulbright Program Scholar

Ryan Guffey, PhD, assistant vice president for student development and special projects at Lindenwood University, has been awarded a Fulbright Scholar grant to lecture at Chulalongkorn University in Bangkok, Thailand, according to the United States Department of State and the J. William Fulbright Foreign Scholarship Board. He was selected from a pool of highly competitive applicants following the completion of an eight-month review process.

Lindenwood University has partnered with the City of St. Charles to produce an updated edition of the city’s Accessibility Guidebook for People with Disabilities. Students from the university’s School of Human Services are working with the St. Charles Citizens with Disabilities Board to assess the compliance of local businesses with guidelines set forth by the American with Disabilities Act.

On the heels of record student enrollment this spring semester, Lindenwood University’s Board of Directors recently approved $2 million to go towards a new admissions center and communications center, complete with radio and television station, for the Belleville campus.

Lindenwood University has formed a debate program and has selected Dr. Robert Burns to lead the team. Director of Student Life Sports Tim Canavan made the announcement on Thursday.

Room, board, tuition and fees for traditional undergraduate resident students at Lindenwood University will increase 3.8 percent in the fall of 2012 to $22,180 per year from their 2011 level of $21,360 per year.

Kerry Cox, director of Student Life and Leadership at Lindenwood University, has received from Power Performers the 2011 Event Planner of the Year Award in the Most Memorable Event category. The New York-based entertainment agency selected Cox for his work on the “Robert Channing- The World’s Greatest Mind Reader and Hypnotist” event that took place at the university in 2011.
